About the Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship
Each year hundreds of riders compete in their local affiliate circuits to qualify for a spot in their region’s Affiliate Finals. The top 10 horse/rider combinations, plus ties, from each of the 15 qualifying classes are invited to one of 11 North American Regional Affiliate Finals. There the competitors battle it out to represent their region as one of the top eight, plus ties, qualifiers for their class, which earns them an invitation to the coveted Adequan® NAAC. The Adequan® NAAC is held concurrently with the NRHA Futurity each November in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Riders compete for championship titles, as well as over $26,000 in added money, prizes (provided by NRHA Corporate Partners and Event Sponsors), and Top Ten jackets in each class courtesy of SmartPak. Regions vie for bragging rights and the $2,500 check awarded by SmartPak to the high-point earning affiliate region in Adequan® NAAC Team Championship. This check will be presented to the affiliate that hosted the NAAC high-scoring team’s Regional Affiliate Finals Show.
The Silver Spurs Equine Rookie of the Year title is also up for grabs. All qualified competitors in the Rookie Level 2 class go head-to-head for the title, in addition to a trophy, buckle and a $500 check.
In 2011, the Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show hosted 475 entries from the United States, Canada and Mexico, with a purse of more than $45,000 awarded.
