Thursday’s Winners at the NRHA European Futurity

Mestdagh & RS Polyphemus Jac

Fonck & Little Nic

The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Futurity moved into its fifth day of showing in Kreuth, Germany with the Arcese NRHA Non Pro 7 & Up and Roleski NRHA Novice Horse Open Level 2.

Mesdagh Wins €2,500-Added Arcese Non Pro 7 & Up After Run-Off with Nestelberger

The Arcese NRHA Non Pro 7 & Up ended with an exciting run off between Alexander Nestelberger (Austria) aboard Shining Step (Wimpys Little Step x Spark N Pretty) and Piet Mestdagh (Belgium) aboard RS Polyphemus Jac (Great Jac Feona x Harlan Glo) after both had scored a 217.5. In the run-off, Alex and Shining Step had a beautiful run scoring a 219.5, but Piet and RS Polyphemus Jac topped them with their run at full risk scoring besting them by half a point.

“I bought the horse from Claudio Risso in January, and this was our first show,” said Piet afterward. “He was great! Claudio told me to let him run a bit more in the run off as he would be even better then, and he was right.”  RS Polyphemus Jac is a 7-year-old stallion bred by Claudio Risso who won the Italian Reining Horse Association (IRHA) Open Derby with Nicola Brunelli in the saddle.

Shining Step was bred by Sandra Friesenbiller and is owned by Alex and Norbert Nestelberger. With Markus Morawitz, the gelding was an Austrian Reining Horse Association Futurity and Derby Champion, IRHA Futurity Level 3 Open Champion and NRHA European Futurity Finalist. Alex Nestelberger, who was in the Austrian Young Riders team at the 2011 FEI European Championships, now trains with Rudi Kronsteiner.

Fonck and Little Nic Top the €800-added Roleski Novice Horse Open Level 2

The Roleski NRHA Novice Horse Open Level 2 was won by NRHA Million Dollar Rider Bernard Fonck and Little Nic (Wimpys Little Step x Smart Chexy Nic). The 4-year-old stallion owned by Lita Pocock scored a 217. Little Nic is one of the two horses Bernard qualified for the Open Level 4 Futurity final. With Andrea Fappani in the saddle, the stallion was fifth in the level 4 open division at the 2012 Reining by the Bay Futurity. Bernard has had him in training for about three weeks now. “He did very well today and really felt good,” said Bernard. “He has a lot of potential, and I am really looking forward to showing him in the Open finals.”

Rudi Kronsteiner and Wimpys Flashy Jac (Wimpys Little Step x Flashy Lady Joe) placed second scoring a 216. The dun stallion, bred by Claude Lindsey and owned by Brigitte Steiner, finished in the top 15 in the level 4 open division at the 2012 NRHA Germany Breeder’s Snaffle Bit Futurity with Pavel Orel in the saddle and the Austrian Reining Horse Association Western Star 3-Year-Old Futurity  between the reins of Guy Zemah.
