When McKinnon Larcombe started her search for a horse to step up her game with, her aunt, NRHA Professional Shauna Larcombe, had the perfect match in mind: Designed With Shine (Smart And Shiney x Taris Designer Genes).
“The first time I rode her, I knew,” Larcombe said. “She was very willing to get along with me and super talented.”
The pair’s connection only grew stronger, and the wins kept coming. At end of 2019, Larcombe and “Daisy” ranked reserve in both Intermediate and Limited Non Pro.
“I knew we’d have a good year, but I didn’t imagine it would be as fantastic as it was,” Larcombe admitted. “We won the maturity at our first show, and from there it just got better. We figured each other out, and she just blossomed. I feel really privileged to be able to show her.”
The pair had a remarkable year, earning numerous wins that evidenced the strength of their partnership.
“I never expected to end up reserve in two divisions—all I was striving for was to do well,” she revealed. “These titles are just the cherry on top. I need to thank my Auntie Shauna [Larcombe]; my parents, Martin and Sam Larcombe; and all my barn friends and family who are always there for me.”
