Advice for horsemanship, non pros, and following your calling from NRHA Professional Bob Avila, on the latest episode of In Our Tracks.
By Jennifer Paulson, Reiner Editorial Consultant and host of In Our Tracks

“When I was about 16 years old, I walked away from horses. I grew my hair long, I had a ponytail, I drove a Corvette. I had nothing to do with horses.”
But then Bob Avila woke up one day and realized he wanted back in the arena. And he really hasn’t left since.
I’ve been fortunate to work with Bob and his wife, Dana, through many different parts of my career. They’ve always been gracious, professional, and ready to answer just about any question I could dream up. I was excited for Bob to be one of the first interviews in this podcast venture when we sat down to talk during finals weekend of the 2019 NRHA Futurity.
In this episode of In Our Tracks, we cover some topics he and I have discussed previously (his best advice for non pros, which really applies to all events) and some stories I’d never heard (Bob had a ponytail?). We’re grateful to dac vitamins and minerals, who also sponsors Bob, for presenting this episode. Bob will tell you about how he found dac products, why he likes them, and what he uses most at the end of the episode.
I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.
As always, you can find this podcast anywhere you download podcasts (please be sure to leave a review) or at nrha.com/podcast.
