Sale: 2015 Futurity Prospect
Consigner: Houde and Tremblay Partnership, Overbook, Oklahoma
Purchaser: Casey Hinton, Whitesboro, Texas

Chex Out My Dough stepped into the sale pen with pedigree power to back up his good looks. When Casey Hinton scouted the field of prospects at the 2015 NRHA/Markel Futurity sales, Hinton recognized both the dam’s performance and offspring, as well as the colt’s sire, who was owned by a neighbor of the Hintons.

“Chex Out My Dough is extremely pretty with lots of athleticism,” Hinton revealed. “He stood out as a good mover that’s very stylish, so we thought he had lots of potential.”

After an injury his 3-year-old year kept him from achieving significant success as a futurity horse, Chex Out My Dough made up for lost time the following year, making the finals at the NRBC and the NRHA Derby with Joshua Crawley in the saddle. By 2018, he was ready for the next phase of his career, when non pro rider Lauren Love purchased him to start a new venture into the sport of reining.

“Lauren had lots of experience in the horse show world, but Chex Out My Dough was her first reining horse,” Hinton said. “She’s had some really good runs with him.”
