The first things that caught Adrianna Runzo’s attention when she saw her horse, A Bueno Chic (Bueno Fritzi Nic x A Hollywood Chic), were his bright eyes and happy face. That demeanor makes the 2005 gelding a great match for Runzo, whose bubbly personality lights up every room she enters.
“I just knew that ‘Stevie’ and I would be best friends as soon as we met,” Runzo shared. “He’s like a big dog.”
After only two years of reining, the high school freshman from Canton, Ohio, earned the 2019 NRHA Youth 13 & Under Reserve World Championship.
“I learned to stay humble throughout the year, for sure,” Runzo revealed. “I learned that nothing is going to be perfect every time, and you really need to trust the relationship you have with your horse.”
Runzo serves as Model UN delegate at her school and is also an NRHyA delegate. In the future, she hopes to take on more leadership roles at school and run for an NRHyA officer position.
“[Becoming an NRHyA officer] would be a dream come true for me,” she said.
