NRHA Million Dollar Sire – Whizard Jac

The reining world lost the legend, Whizard Jac, in 2009, but his legacy lives on today in his offspring that have now accumulated more than one million dollars in National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Lifetime Earnings. According to NRHA official records, his sire earnings are now $1,010,398.54.

Throughout his outstanding reining career, Bill and Dawn Pohl’s Whizard Jac earned over $155,000 and was well known for overcoming the odds in his first year of competition. As a three-year-old, Whizard Jac experienced foot problems, resulting in several operations and a three-month layoff. Despite the setback, Whizard Jac earned reserve champion honors at the 1996 All American Quarter Horse Congress Straight Arrow Futurity. A month later, he won the NRHA Futurity with future NRHA Hall of Fame Inductee Mike Flarida aboard. Flarida commented that it was Whizard Jac’s “tremendous mental capacity” that put them in the winner’s circle.

Flarida also rode Whizard Jac to the win at the inaugural United States Equestrian Team Reining Championship (USET) in Gladstone, N.J., during the 1999 USET Festival of Champions.

Whizard Jac (Topsail Whiz x Bees Honey Jac by Hollywood Jac 86) was bred by NRHA Dale Wilkinson Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Sally Brown of Maple Plains, Minn.
