October 11 – Grischa Ludwig & Wimpys Little Boo claim SBH Open Futurity Championship after Run off, Rudi Kronsteiner & What A Qt Whiz Reserve Champion together with Grischa Ludwig
Simply unique – this was the 2013 NRHA Breeders Futurity SBH Open final (3-year-old horses). It ended with a three way tie on first place between Grischa Ludwig aboard Wimpys Little Boo and Docs Stylish Whiz (both owned by Veronique Parise) and Rudi Kronsteiner aboard What A Qt Whiz (owner Katja Junger) who scored a 224.5 after brilliant rides. In the following run off Grischa Ludwig and the beautiful palomino stallion Wimpys Little Boo (Wimpys Little Step x Miss Boo Twist) scored a 226.5 – this was the first NRHA Breeders Futurity Champion title for Grischa who earned team gold at the FEI European Championship only a few weeks before the event. NRHA Million Dollar Rider Rudi Kronsteiner and What A Qt Whiz (Dun It On The QT x Im A Classy Whiz) placed second scoring a 222.5, with Grischa Ludwig and Docs Stylish Whiz (Topsail Whiz X Stylish Sugar) following with a 222, which was also Reserve Champion.
„This is the best that ever happened to me since I won the Americana,“ a still breathless Grischa said happily afterwards. “I never won the Breeders Futurity before, and this time I won and also placed third with two horses owned by the same person. I still cannot believe it.“ Grischa got the horses last winter and rode Docs Stylish Whiz to third place honours at the Americana Futurity.
Rudi Kronsteiner, who already won the NRHA Breeders Futurity six times said:“I tried my best, but this time it wasn’t enough. But What A QT Whiz did a great job anyway. When did we ever have a 3-way tie on first place at this event? I’m so happy for Grischa – he deserved to win!” What A Qt Whiz is by Dun It On The QT, the stallion Rudi Kronsteiner won the Futurity with in 2008, out of Katja Jungfer’s great performing mare Im A Classy Whiz. Rudi Kronsteiner won the Americana Futurity .
Nina Lill & Forevergun Ltd. Open
The Limited Open was won by Nina Lill aboard Forevergun (One Gun x Es Sweet Little Star) who scored a 220.5. Forevergun was bred by Alice Marinoni and is owned by Franz Jaksche. Shauna Larcombe and Captain Igloo (Frozen Sailor x Whiz Sandy) owned by Chanay Sky Management SA. placed second.
NRHA Germany Breeders Futurity Champion SBH Non Pro: Manuel Bonzano & Gettin Over You / Marina Becker & Whiz Spookadoodledoo Reserve
Scoring a 219, Italian Manuel Bonzano and his 3-year-old AQHA stallion Gettin Over You (Ricochet Rooster x Docs Oak Rosy) claimed the NRHA Breeders Futurity Championship SBH Non Pro in a field of 23 finalists. It was the second time, NRHA World Champion Non Pro Manuel Bonzano claimed the prestigious title – and it was his second great success at this event after winning the Bronze Trophy Non Pro aboard his Great Sun Burst the day before.
“Gettin Over You was really good tonight – especially his circles and his left spin,“ said Manuel Bonzano, who also is the breeder of the stallion. “He was a lot better than in the go round. Bernard Fonck rode him last night for me – and he did a great job. Getting Over You was much more in shape today, and I could ask a lot more and at a loose rein.”
Two riders tied fort he Reserve Champion title: Marina Becker aboard Whiz Spookadoodledoo (Smart Spook x Bo Diddley Whiz) and Manuel Cortesi aboard MP Custom Be Sweet (Custom Pistol x Plena Pride), one of the three horses he had in the final – scoring a 215.5 each. With this, Marina Becker and her AQHA gelding bred by Priscilla Jacquard, were also NRHA Breeders Futurity Champion SBH Limited Non Pro. Aboard Whiz Spookadoodledoo, Marina had won the Jackpot SBH Non Pro at the NRHA Breeders Derby as well as the NRHA Belgium Futurity 3YO SBH NonPro L2. Reserve Champion Ltd. Non Pro was Lara Lorengo aboard Wimpys Little Gun SG (Wimpys Little Step x Miss Gunna Slide) – their score: 214.5.
October 9 – Gennaro Lendi wins 2nd go-round in Bit Open / Bernard Fonck & Little Nic leading after both go-rounds
The second go round of the NRHA Germany Breeders Futurity Bit Open was won by Gennaro Lendi aboard Paola Arcese’s Marilyn Monwhoa (Smart Spook x Caramel Creme Command) who scored a 223. Bernard Fonck and Little Nic (Wimpys Little Step x Smart Chexy Nic, owner Lita Pocock) placed second scoring a 221.5. This added to a composite score of 441 for Bernard and his Belgian Futurity Champion horse who is leading now after both go rounds. Two Times German Reining Champion Grischa Ludwig and Antonia Geisendorf’s Gwiz N Smart (Smart Spook x Whizards Baby Do) place second in total ranking with a composite score of 440.5. Altogether 22 4-year-old horses made it to the Breeders Futurity Bit Open final, the minimum score being 417. Volker Schmitt, Davide Brighenti and Emanuel Ernst rode two horses each into the Open final.
Edoardo Bernardelli wins 2nd go-round in Bit Non Pro
The second go round of the NRHA Germany Breeders Futurity Bit Non Pro was dominated by Edoardo Bernardelli aboard ARC Spark It Up (Custom Crome x Sailin Spark) who scored a 215.5. The 4-year-old gelding who was among the top ten of the 2012 NRHA Futurity Non Pro, claimed the Americana Non Pro Trophy Res. Championship only a few weeks before this go round. Two riders tied for second place scoring a 214.5: Tina Kuenstner-Mantl aboard her JP Elwhiz and Heidi Wallner aboard Smooth Move Chex. Altogether, 19 horses will be in the Non Pro Bit final now, the minimum score being a 411. After the two scores, Manuel Bonzano and his Rio Juice took the lead with a composite score of 429. Tina Kuenstner-Mantl and JP Elwhiz followed on second place (428) and also rode her Justa Twisted Gun on third place (427.5).

October 8 – Rudi Kronsteiner and Markus Gebert take lead in SBH Futurity Open go-round
With a score of 224, NRHA Million Dollar Rider Rudi Kronsteiner aboard Spangmaker (owner Braam Quarter Horses) and Markus Gebert aboard Charly Step N Cool (owner Angelika Gebert) took the lead in a field of 54 in the NRHA Breeders Futurity SBH Open go round (3-year-old horses). Also, Rudi rode Katja Jungfer‘s What A QT Whiz on third place scoring a 223.5. Both horses are by two of Rudi‘s most successful reining horses: Spangmaker is by Star Spangled Whiz, the stallion Rudi Kronsteiner won the Italian RHA Derby with scoring a new record score for Europe (236). What A QT Whiz is by Dun It On The QT, the stallion Rudi rode to the NRHA Breeders Futurity Championship. Spangmaker and What A QT Whiz are both Austrian RHA Futurity Top 5.
Markus Gebert is not only leading the Open SBH Go Round but also the Ltd. Open go round. His mare Charly Step N Cool who is by Wimpys Little Step was 2013 Austrian RHA Futurity Co-Reserve Champion Non Pro with his owner Angelika Gebert. Two riders tied for second place in Limited Open ranking: Giuseppe Prevosti aboard Saturday Pepper and Nina Lill aboard Franz Jaksche’s Forevergun Gun, each scoring a 221.
Top score for Manuel Cortesi and PC Galina Rooster in SBH Non Pro go-round
35 horses had been entered for the SBH Non Pro Futurity Go Round of the NRHA Breeders Futurity. Here, young Manuel Cortesi and PC Galina Rooster took the lead scoring a 219. With this mare by Ricochet Rooster out of Lady Skinsail, Manuel was Pre-Futurity Champion Non Pro at the 2013 NRHA European Derby. Among Manuel Cortesi’s achievements are the 2010 NRHA Breeders Futurity Bit Non Pro and Limited Non Pro Championship, IRHA Futurity Level 4 Non Pro Championship and 2011 NRHA European Futurity Level 4 and Level 3 Non Pro Championship. Manuel also managed to ride F Electric Whiz on third place of the Go round.
Lara Lorengo and her Wimpys Little Gun SG placed second scoring a 217, which was also the lead in Limited Non Pro ranking. The young Italian lady reiner who only recently claimed team gold for Italy at the FEI European Championship, Junior division, was 2012 NRHA European Derby Champion Level 2. Austrian Sandra Friesenbiller and her Shine N Whiz placed second in Limited Non Pro scoring a 211.5.
October 7 – Bernard Fonck and Grischa Ludwig dominate first go-round of NRHA Germany Breeders Futurity Snaffle Bit Open
The 2013 NRHA Germany Breeders Futurity started with the first go-rounds of the NRHA Germany Breeders Futurity Bit Open and Non Pro. In the Open, Grischa Ludwig aboard Antonia Geisendorf’s Gwhiz N Smart (Smart Spook x Whizards Baby Do) and NRHA Million Dollar Rider Bernard Fonck aboard Little Nic (Wimpys Little Step x Smart Chexy Nic, owner Lita Pocock) took the lead in a field of 26, each scoring a 219.5. Two-time German Reining Champion Grischa Ludwig and Gwiz N Smart were 2013 Americana Futurity Co-Champion. NRHA Million Dollar Rider Bernard Fonck rode Little Nic to the Belgian Futurity Championship only a few weeks before the show.
Two riders tied for third place scoring a 218 each: Emanuel Ernst aboard Angelika Schürmann’s Smart Like Custom and Cody Sapergia aboard Tari Whizin (owner Chuck Klipfel). In the Limited Open Bit, Dominik Reminder rode Jürgen Maibaum’s Revolutionary Affair to first place scoring a 216, with Oliver Stein and Nicole Ulrich’s Steppin Out In Crome placing second (215). Dominik and Revolutionary Affair only recently became Polish Futurity Res. Champion.
Tina Kunstner-Mantl and Justa Twisted Gun leading after Non Pro Snaffle Bit go-round
Scoring a 216, Austrian Tina Kunstner-Mantl and her Justa Twisted Gun (Colonels Smoking Gun x Justa Little Twisted) took the lead in a field of 32. Cody Sapergia rode this mare tot he 2012 NRHA Germany Breeders Futurity Co-Reserve Championship Open. Past NRHA Reserve World Champion Non Pro Tina Kunstner-Mantl was third with this horse at the 2013 Americana Non Pro Futurity.
NRHA World Champion Non Pro Manuel Bonzano followed on second place with two horses scoring a 215.5: High Point Reiner (Sailin Ruf x Scarlet High Listo) and Rio Juice (Smart Like Juice x Tari What). With High Point Reiner, Manuel claimed the 2013 Belgian Futurity Championship Non Pro, the 2012 AustrianRHA Futurity Non Pro Championship 3-year-old horses and was third at the 2013 NRHA European Futurity Non Pro and Reserve Champion of the 2013 AustrianRHA Futurity 4-year-old horses. With Rio Juice, Manuel Bonzano was NRHA Futurity Finalist Non Pro and 4th at the 2013 NRHA European Futurity Non Pro.
Anke Hartwig aboard her Dry Colonel Peppy (El Kineno x Doc Olenas Tiny Baby) and Christine Daurer aboard her Illbe Revolution tied for fourth place scoring a 214.5 which was also the lead in the Limited Non Pro Bit. Anke Hartwig and Dry Colonel Peppy were Reserve Futurity Champion Non Pro at the 2012 NRHA NRW Derby. Christine Daurer and Illbe Revolution won the Jackpot SBHR Non Pro at the NRHA Breeders Derby.
The second go round in the Breeders Futurity Bit Open and Non Pro is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8. The Futurity final on Saturday night will be the traditional highlight of this show .
