Daniel Schloemer and Wimpyneedsalilshandy Win Inaugural Futurity

Wadsworth, IL: The Appaloosa Reining Horse Association’s (ApRHA) inaugural $10,000 Buy, Breed and Win Futurity Cup was held at the 2017 Appaloosa World Championship show in Ft. Worth TX on November 2nd, 2017. This Futurity Cup, ran in conjunction with the M. Wade Smith $5,000 L4 Open Futurity and the Markel Insurance $2,500 L1 Open Futurity and had a total cash pay-out of $27,860.
Daniel Schloemer, riding Stephanie Webb’s filly Wimpyneedsalilshandy (Wimpyneedsacocktail x Ima Little Bit High) marked a 146.5 to take the coveted winner-take-all $10,000 prize purse plus the duo won the M. Wade Smith $5,000 L4 Open Futurity, which added $3,156.32 to his winnings. But the money didn’t stop there. Owner Stephanie Webb was awarded an additional $2,000 as the nominator of sire Wimpyneedsacocktail in the ApRHA $10,000 Buy, Breed and Win Futurity Cup, bringing this filly’s total winnings to $15,156.32.
Taking the Reserve Champion spot in the M. Wade Smith $5,000 L4 Open Futurity was NRHA newcomer Austin Jewell, riding Jane and Rene Cairo’s Tattoos Comin N Hot. (Tattoos Dun It x Mighty Little Step) This hot new pair marked a strong 144.5. Jewell also secured the win in the Markel Insurance $2,500 L1 Open Futurity. This pair brought home total winnings of $4,302.15. Although the Cairo’s were just out of reach of the $10,000 prize purse, they had a great showing with their stallion’s (Tattoos Dun It) get bringing home a total of $11,720.65.
Noel Matthais and her filly Hobbys Spotted Doll (Ima Bootscootin Lena x Miss Gay Bar Girl) took home the win in the Diversified Incomes LLC $1,000 L4 Non-Pro Futurity.
