NRHA Breeders Derby: Cody Sapergia wins Open Breeders Derby , Grischa Ludwig and Jeannette Krähenbühl second
Provided by Ramona Billing - With a 221.5 Canadian Cody Sapergia and Shining Tinsel claimed the 2013 NRHA Breeders Derby Open Championship. The 5-year-old AQHA gelding by Tinsel Nic out of Setting Off Sparks, owned by Klaus Zieglmeier , had been leading after the go round and earned plus points in each maneuvre in the final as well. Klaus Ziegelmeier bought Shining Tinsel, which was bred by Rosanne Sternberg and trained by Jonathan Gauthier 1 1/2 years ago as a Non Pro horse for himself and his daughter. Cody got the gelding four months ago and was Novice Horse Open Reserve Champion 2013 at the IRHA/NRHA Derby. “Shining Tinsel is a great horse and so cooperative”, said Cody. “This was a great show, and I have to thank the owners for this fine horse. But I couldn’t have done it without the support from my team.”
The Co-Reserve Championship Open and Co-Championship Limited Open went to Jeannette Krähenbühl aboard Dr Lee Hook and Grischa Ludwig aboard Pistol Silhouette. The 5-year-old mare by Custom Pistol out of Peaches Silhouette, bred by Steve Simon and owned by Joline Nollet was one of two horses Grischa had in the final and was second after the g round. “My horse was super, but it simply wasn’t enough”, said Grischa Ludwig. “But I’m so glad for Cody – he deserves it!” Jeannette Krähenbühl felt the same. With her Dr Lee Hook (Ray Gay Quixote x Chickaduasha) bred and owned by Glis Ranch (Österreich) she won the 2012 NRHA European Derby Open Level 2. “My horse was great, but I had a mistake in his best maneuvre the spin. Anyway, I’m happy for Cody – he was great.”
Britta Goenemeyer & Best Spook claim NRHA Breeders Derby Non Pro Championship
The 2013 NRHA Breeders Derby Non Pro final ended with a tie on first place between Britta Gronemeyer aboard her Best Spook and Katharina King aboard Antarismartin. Both had achieved a 213.5. In the following run off, Britta Gronemeyer got a 211 after a fine run which turned out to be the better score. Katharine King scored a 210.
Best Spook is a 5-year-old black AQHA stallion by Smart Spook out of Best Stop, one of the best producing mares of Custom Crome. The stallion bred in the U.S.A. was 2012 NRHA European Futurity Open Lev. 4 top 10 finalist and won the Limited Non Pro at the NRHA Breeders Futurity. Britta Gronemeyer and her horse had been 6th after the go round.
Reserve Derby Champion Antarismartin (ARC Antares Surprise x Tarismartin) was 2012 NRHA Breeders Futurity Reserve Champion Non Pro & Ltd Non Pro 4 years old and IRHA/NRHA Futurity Champion Non Pro Level 2 as weel as Reserve Level 3 and 4.
