By Simona Diale – On September 8 – 14 in Manerbio, Italy, the Palasturla facility will host the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Euro100,000-added European Derby & Pre Futurity.  This year, the third edition of the prestigious event will also include the much awaited for FEI Young Rider and Junior European Reining Championship.

NRHA European Derby

The European Derby is open to 4-, 5-, 6- and 7-year-old horses and is run in a qualifying go-round and clean slate finals.  All 4-year-olds must be nominated in the NRHA European Nomination Program.  This year the Euro69,000-added Open Derby is named after Main Sponsors, KL Performance Horses.  Owned by Sabine Lisec and Chuck Klipfel of Austria, the ranch is dedicated to the training and breeding of reining horses.  “We are very happy to be able to sponsor the European Derby as we believe it is an event that will further grow the sport in Europe,” said Sabine.

Naming the Euro28,500-added Non Pro Derby is the Roleski Ranch of Stare Zucovice in Poland.  “It is with great pleasure that Roleski will be supporting the European Derby. I have been following the growth of the sport in the Old Continent in the past five years, and I am happy to be able to further promote it by sponsoring the upcoming edition of the European Derby,” said Katarzyna Roleska. Roleska and her family own the Polish breeding and training facility that is home to great reining champions.

The deadline for entries in the NRHA European Derby is August 10.  It is possible to enter online by logging on to www.showmanager.eu.

NRHA European Open & Non Pro Level 4 & Level 2 Pre Futurity

The Pre Futurity is open to 3-year-old horses that may be shown one or two handed.  The competition will take place in one go round on Wednesday afternoon.  The entry deadline is August 10.

FEI Young Rider & Junior European Reining Championship

Italy is proud to host the second edition of the FEI Young Rider & Junior European Reining Championship.  The much awaited for competition open to young European reiners will take place on Thursday with the Team Competition.  The Individual Competition will take place on Saturday.
